WARM WELCOME FROM TENBURY TO LATEST ‘WALK FOR BUSINESS’ IN TOWN

Richard and Cliff received a warm welcome from businesses in Tenbury

Local Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate, Richard Burt joined Tenbury businessman and county council candidate, Cliff Slade on his latest 'walk for business' in Tenbury town centre last week.

Richard and Cliff spoke to nearly sixty business owners in total to find out how they were surviving the economic downturn on top of the devastating floods of 2007. They handed out a small business survey which Mr Burt will also take to businesses across the constituency over the coming weeks.

Cliff said:

"Talking to the business people in Tenbury gave us both a humbling insight into the gritty, determined 'Teme Valley spirit' which these business leaders in the town have developed.

"The aftermath of the floods continue to prove damaging financially and now the economic situation compounds recovery. However optimism is fuelled by business being able to diversify and the continued support of local shoppers. Attracting visitors to Tenbury is also of key important for the future."

Richard said:

"We received a very warm welcome from business people in Tenbury and I will make sure that their comments are fed through to councils and to business organisations locally. I will also send the results to Vince Cable and his team in Westminster, to argue for the strongest possible support for small businesses, which are the lifeblood of our local economies."

Richard hopes to visit businesses in Malvern next week
